It is nearly time for the World Indoor Rowing Championships, the CRASH-Bs, due to be held in Boston, United States on 19 February 2012. And as the CRASH-Bs are approaching a number of indoor rowing competitions have been featured around the world.

At the 2011 World Rowing Masters Regatta, Occoquan have entered a total of 19 events, winning medals in seven of them, and coming one place short in a further four events.

In 1976, Helmut Krause and Hans-Ulrich Schmied both represented their country at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada, yet it was two different sides of Germany they rowed for. Helmut rowed for West Germany, and Hans, for East Germany. So tense was the political situation at the time that the two men could not even speak to each other.
